Pine River, Evart lose games

BOYS BASKETBALL

McBain 55, Pine River 38

MCBAIN — The Ramblers jumped out to a 29-16 halftime lead and went on to win by 17 on Friday.

Lane Ruppert led the Bucks with 13 points and Elijah Lewis added 11.

“We didn’t execute our game plan very well,” Pine River coach Brian Goodenow said. We continue to struggle on offense. We need to improve our shot opportunities.”

Pine River (4-4, 2-2) was scheduled to be at Forest Area on Monday, but the game was postponed because of the weather. The Bucks are scheduled to be at home on Thursday against McBain Northern Michigan Christian.

Beal City 72, Evart 50

BEAL CITY — Beal City was led by Logan Chilman with 24 points in this Highland Conference game on Friday. Ivan Paul chipped in 11, Seth Schafer added 10 and Adam Pung scored 10.

Evart fell to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference. Beal City is 4-3 and 2-2.

The Wildcats are home against Manton on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

McBain 51, Pine River 20

MCBAIN — Pine River fell to 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the Highland Conference with this Thursday loss. The Bucks are home on Friday against McBain Northern Michigan Christian.
