Randall impressed with hunting season results

PARIS — As he looks back at 2018 TV host Kyle Randall of Wilderness Journal, also a Paris area resident, is looking favorably on the past hunting season while warning anglers about taking risks on shaky ice.

“I would say from what I hear it’s a pretty good hunting season,” Randall said. “Guys were getting some good bucks. It seems like it was pretty good.”

Bow season started on Oct. 1 and went through mid-November but up-and-down weather seems to have had an impact on it, Randall and others pointed out.

The firearm season was met with a lot of snow on Nov. 15 and 16 but then the weather settled down and hunters, generally speaking, seemed to have some success.

Bow season resumed on Dec. 1 and continues through Jan. 1. Muzzleloading season was in early to mid-December.

“There doesn’t appear to have been all that much success with muzzleloading season,” Randall said.

As for ice fishing, Randall said it’s way too early to try the ice.

“I lost a good friend through the ice in the past and I don’t want to lose another one,” he said
