Reed City falls to Tri County

HOWARD CITY — Reed City (1-5, 0-3) was down 29-19 at halftime and 34-25 at the end of the third quarter in a 44-37 CSAA Gold loss to Tri County on Friday.

Reed City was tied with Tri County 11-11 after the first quarter.

“The difference in the game was about with two minutes to go in the second quarter,” Reed City coach Brian Koopman said. “We didn’t box out well and they got out in transition, and got some easy baskets, and opened up to a 10-point lead, and that’s kind of where the game stayed. We got within five or six but could never get any closer.”

Kamryn Myers and Taylor Harrison scored 10 points apiece while Alison Duddles had nine points for Reed City.

“I thought we shot well from the free-throw line,” Koopman said. “We were 10-of-14 from there. Offensively, we missed a lot of easy baskets. Defense didn’t do too bad. We didn’t box out well. That killed us a lot.”

It was Reed City’s first game back from the holiday break.

“We’re definitely getting better,” Koopman said. “We have to keep working hard, and take each game as it comes. We got a good effort from everybody. We just have to play a complete game.”

The Coyotes are home on Friday against arch-rival Big Rapids.
