Evart track teams fall to McBain

EVART — McBain defeated Evart in Highland Conference dual track action on Tuesday May 7

It was 85-78 for the boys and 127-27 for the girls.

Taking first places for the Evart boys were Kyle Stokes in the 100 meters (11.69) and 200 meters (24.14), Bryant Calderon, Tanner Ryan, Haidyn Simmer and Kamrin Grein in the 4×100 (48.58), Ryan, Simmer, Cameron Brasington and Stokes in the 4×200 (1:38.27). Richard Foster in the pole vault (12-0), Brasington in the long jump (18 12).

Taking seconds for the Wildcats were Simmer in the long jump (17-1/2), Mitchell VanScoyoc in the discus (90-2), the 4×400 (3:54.32) and 4×800 relay (9:32.40) teams, Austin Hamilton in the 800 (2:06.15) and Nathan Woods in the 1,600 meters (4:38.19) and Brasington in the 110-meter (18..13) and 300-meter hurdles (44.78).

For the Evart girls, Mackenzi VanBuren (13.80) was second in the 100 meters, Arrionna Culp was second in the 300 hurdles (1:02.47) and the 4×200 relay team of Kyle Stokes, VanBuren, Kara Henry and Laina Payne took first place (1:58.7). Kara Henry was first in the high jump (4-11).

Pine River

Pine River track was at Lake City on Tuesday, May 7. for Highland Conference action. Highlights for the Bucks included Kendra Montague, who placed first in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 800 relay (with Abigail Dennis, Sydney Edstrom, and Avery Sumpter), Dennis won the 400-meter dash. Freshman Hailey Wanstead won the two mile.

The Bucks are next in action Friday in Manton.
