Reed City soccer teams win

GIRLS SOCCER

Reed City 8, Newaygo 0

REED CITY — Claudia Francke tallied four goals and assisted on two others in Reed City’s route of Newaygo on Thursday. Taylor Harrison added one goal and one assist and Aliyah Fitch, Paige Lofquist, and Taylor Hilliard had one goal apiece.

Reed City 3, Fremont 1

FREMONT — Karlie Kearns tallied a hat trick to lead the Coyotes to a 3-1 win over the Packers on Monday.

The win sets up an important conference game between the third place Coyotes (11-1-3) and the second place Cardinals of Big Rapids (7-6-1).

SOFTBALL

Pine River sweep Mesick

LEROY — Pine River beat Mesick 9-1 in the first game of a Friday twinbill. Emma Whitley was the winning pitcher, striking out eight, and allowing two walks and three hits. Whitley had three hits with three RBIs and a home run. Emily Treiber had three hits including one double. Parker Moores had two hits.

Pine River won the second game 12-7. Kim Hill was the winning pitcher. She had five strikeouts. Logan Powell had two singles and three RBIs. Kayla Trowbridge had two hits.

Pine River is 11-11.

BASEBALL

Bucks go 2-0

LEROY — Pine River won 10-4 and 8-4 over Mesick on Friday.

Luke Hill and Hunter Poe got the wins. Lane Ruppert and Kris Green both had four hits. Ruppert had a triple. Tanner Shimel had three hits on the night.

Pine River is 18-4 on the season.

BOYS GOLF

Coyotes shoot 438

BIG RAPIDS — Big Rapids’ golf team continued its control over first place in the Central State Activities Association by dominating Tuesday’s (May 7) tourney at Katke Golf Course.

Big Rapids shot a 316 followed by Fremont (406) Kent City (408), Grant (429), Chippewa Hills (434), Reed City (438), Central Montcalm (438), Tri County (442), Hesperia (535) and Lakeview (580).

Scoring for Reed City were: Mason Bush (102), Thomas Quinn (106), Fischer Morrison (108) and Chaz Davis (122).

Reed City has its own tournament on Friday at Falcon Head Golf Course, Big Rapids.
