Reed CIty softball team sweeps Lake City

REED CITY — Reed City’s softball team swept Lake City 11-4 and 13-11 on Thursday in non-league action.

Maddie Morgan was the winning pitcher in the first game, going five innings and allowing two runs, and striking out six.

Lily Andres had three hits while Kamryn Myers, Morgan, Veronica Lofquist, Cạssie Enos, Riley Shaffer, Adeline Wirick and Mya Peterson had one apiece.

Lofquist was the winning pitcher in the second game, allowing six runs on eight hits. Myers had three hits while Morgan, Lofquist and Shafer had two and Wirick, Peterson, Angelina Pudvan and Alaina Stein had one apiece.

Reed City posted a pair of Central State Activities Association Gold Division softball wins over Ludington on Wednesday, 14-5 and 10-8 in eight innings.

Morgan was the winning pitcher. She allowed five runs, two earned, and five hits, striking out four and walking one.

Veronica Lofquist pitched two innings, and allowed one unearned run. Kamryn Myers, Lofquist and Cassie Enos had three hits apiece while Morgan and Andres both had home runs and two hits apiece. Shafer and Wirick had one apiece.

Morgan was the winning pitcher in the second game, going seven innings and allowing four earned runs, striking out five and walking one. Lofquist went four innings and allowed four runs on five hits.

Morgan had a walk-off two-run homer the bottom of the eighth. Lofquist had two hits while Myers, Cassie Enos, Shafer, Keagan Parish and Wirick all had one hit apiece.

Reed City splits

Fremont won 6-4 over Reed City in the first game of a Tuesday CSAA doubleheader on May 21. Morgan started the game, went five innings and gave up four runs, two earned on five hits, struck out five and issued no walks. Lofquist was the pitcher of record. She went two innings and gave up two runs on three hits, striking out four and allowing no walks.

Leading hitters were Myers, Morgan, Lofquist, Enos, Shafer and Petersen.

Reed City won 7-1 in the second game. Winning pitcher was Morgan. She went seven innings and gave up one run on four hits, striking out seven and had no walks. Leading hitters were Myers and Lofquist with two hits each. With one hit each was Morgan, Andres, Enos, Shafer, Alaina Stein and Keegan Parish.

The Coyotes were 0-3 on Saturday in the Portland Invitational. They lost 8-1 to Portland. Maddie Morgan was the losing pitcher. Andres had the Coyotes’ only hit.

They lost the second game 19-0 to Dundee. Lofquist was the losing pitcher and had her team’s only hit.

Reed City ended the day losing 12-4 to Owosso. Morgan was the losing pitcher. Myers and Lofquist had two hits each. Andres had a hit.

Reed City had a doubleheader on Thursday with Manistee. The Coyotes play in the Cadillac district on Saturday.
