Reed City Rage win summer league

REED CITY — The Reed City Rage summer softball team ended its season with 15-0 and 18-0 wins over Cadillac in makeup games on Saturday and ended the Local Area Teams (LAT) League in first place.

In the first game, winning pitcher was Maddie Morgan. The game went three innings and Morgan walked one and struck out four and didn’t allow a hit or run.

Rylie Shafer had two hits for the Rage. Morgan, Cassie Enos and Makayla Mondrella had one apiece.

Morgan was the winning pitcher in the second game. She allow two hits and fanned seven and allowed no walks.

Morgan, Shafer and Mondrella had two hits apiece. Getting one hit each were Lily Andre and Mia Petersen.

The date was originally intended to be a season ending tournament. But several teams couldn’t make it, Reed City coach Roger Steig said.

“Today we played exceptionally well,” Steig said. “I thought our girls did well at the plate. Defensively, when you play error free for two games you’re happy. Maddie Morgan did a nice job on the mound. Riley Shaffer did a nice job behind the plate. She makes a big difference for the pitchers.”

Reed City’s final record was 8-3. Marion was second in the LAT League at 6-3.
